Community Involvement

Green Valley Village is proud to be a community partner.  We strive to meet community challenges with organizations that have missions consistent with our vision and values.

Green Valley Firefighters Foundation

The new non-profit foundation plans to help firefighters fulfill Green Valley Fire District’s requirement for a four-year college degree. It is mandatory for firefighters who want to be promoted to Battalion Chief and beyond in the district, which covers Green Valley and southern Sahuarita.

United States Blind Golf Association

The United States Blind Golf Association (USBGA) was established in 1953 for the purpose of encouraging and enhancing opportunities for blind and visually impaired golfers.  With donations they are able to put on Blind Golf Tournaments that allow blind and vison impaired golfers to shine at the sport they love.

Valley Assistance Services

Each of the Valley Assistance programs takes into account the increasing diversity of seniors as a group, yet considers the needs of seniors at different stages of their lives. Valley Assistance incorporates a vision that is supported by five inter-related principles: dignity, independence, participation, fairness and safety/security. Valley Assistance encourages families and children to study, finish school, be responsible and experience success in life.

 Santa Cruz Humane Society

The mission of the Santa Cruz Humane Society is to provide compassionate care for Santa Cruz County’s lost and abandoned animals, provide them with safe, cost effective medical treatment, and encourage fostering and adoption.

 Green Valley Community Food Bank

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona provides food and food-related services throughout a 23,000 square-mile region of Southern Arizona including Pima, Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, and Santa Cruz counties. The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona distributes over 63,000 meals a day to members of our community with the support of over 300 local nonprofit agencies. Each year, we assist over 225,000 people through our programs and services

 Santa Rita Nursing & Rehabilitation

At Santa Rita Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, we understand how difficult it is to make an informed decision at such an emotional time. Our admissions coordinator is available to discuss your needs as well as our ability to meet those needs. And we can provide you with information about other community resources that may be appropriate for your situation

 Alex Coelho Memorial Golf Tournament

For 17 years, businesses in the Green Valley, Sahuarita, Tucson and surrounding areas have generously donated to this event.  Without question, the event’s success has been due to those contributions, the golfers and the hard work of Alex’s friends.  To date, the tournament has contributed over $185,000 in Alex’s memory. The generous contributions have stayed in our community and continue to help young adults and athletes.

We are currently gearing up for the 18th Annual Alex Coelho Memorial Golf Tournament, which will be held in beautiful Tubac, Az on Saturday, April 11th. Every year our wonderful committee members connect with business owners and private citizens in our community to sponsor a hole at the tournament and raise money in Alex’s memory. The money generated from the Alex Coelho Golf Tournament is then given back as scholarships for college bound high school seniors graduating from Sahuarita High School. We have also been able to donate significantly to the Sahuarita High School athletics department, as while Alex attended Sahuarita High School he was very active in sports, particularly golf. The Rose Society of Green Valley

The Rose Society was founded February 1, 1960. We currently have over 100 members. The purpose of the Rose Society is to share interest and knowledge. Knowledge, like the rose, needs to be nurtured, fed and shared with others in order to grow and produce more knowledge and beauty. We currently have 12 Consulting Rosarians in our membership, 6 American Rose Society (ARS) Horticulture Judges and 3 Arrangement Judges. Whether you just want to learn to grow the roses you currently have, or you want to exhibit, we have members who will help you to achieve your goals.

Coaches for Charity

Coaches for Charity began in 2009 as an outgrowth of a promotion to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The original event was a Golf Tournament matching contestants with celebrity coaches to raise funds for the soon to open Children’s Diamond Center at UMC. Since then Coaches for Charity has become a 501(c)3 recognized non-profit charity that raises funds through special events and athletics to support young people and encourages healthy, active lifestyles

Green Valley/Sahuraita Chamber of Commence

From our Charter Chairman of the Board Betty Plank, July 1979, to our current 27th Chair, Kathleen Wishnick, April 2016, the Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center has grown with the community and been a major part of the economic development of our two communities. We are committed to the community, business and quality of life we enjoy in the Santa Cruz Valley.

 Median Green

In late 2006, founder Susanne Blodgett sent out a call for volunteers. She hoped that others were also discouraged by the neglected look of our medians and were willing to help find a solution. A dozen residents became part of the original Green Valley Beautification Committee under the umbrella of the Green Valley Community Coordinating Council (GVCCC).
